Development of Adolescent Literacy Publications

Conducted on behalf of the National Institute for Literacy (NIFL), this project is designed to advance practitioners' knowledge, understanding, and application of research-based approaches for improving adolescents' literacy.

The work for this project involves the development of meaningful and accessible resources to help practitioners, policymakers and parents understand the research base on adolescent literacy and its implications for teaching, learning, parenting, and program design.

Products target middle and high school core content area teachers, building administrators, parents, and policymakers. The products will explicitly target English language learners' learning and instructional needs and the challenges educators within schools in need of improvement face in teaching literacy skills across content areas.
