George Washington University, including
- National
Clearinghouse for English Language Acquisition (formerly the National
Clearinghouse for Bilingual Education)
- Collects, analyzes, synthesizes and disseminates information about
language instruction educational programs for English language learners
and related programs. It is funded by the U.S. Department of Education's
Office of English
- National
Clearinghouse for Comprehensive School Reform (NCCSR)
- Online library includes a database of useful
articles and research reports on whole school reform and improvement.
The Library also provides access to information about reform models,
technical assistance providers, and program evaluation
- The
George Washington University HEATH Resource Center (HEATH):
- National clearinghouse on postsecondary education for youth with
disabilities serves as an information exchange about educational
support services, policies, procedures, adaptations, and opportunities
at American campuses, vocational-technical schools, and other postsecondary
training entities to help people with disabilities reach their full
potential through postsecondary education and training.
- Hamilton
Fish Institute on School and Community Violence
- Works with a consortium of seven universities
whose key staff have expertise in adolescent violence, criminology,
law enforcement, substance abuse, juvenile justice, gangs, public
health, education, behavior disorders, social skills development
and prevention programs.
- Services include The Bulletin, a
quarterly newsletter.
- Instructional
Media and Materials Center
- Provides K-12 teachers with access to resources
relating to the new standards for mathematics and science education.
Selected software are available for CD-ROM, video and videodisc
using Macintosh or IBM PC compatibles. The IMMC also maintains a
rich library of teacher preparation materials and media, covering
a broad range of topics, including cooperative learning, teacher
empowerment and multi-disciplinary curricula.
